The Starry Plough is the official symbol of the Irish Citizen Army, who fought under James Connolly during the 1916 Easter Rising.
During the Rising, the starry plough flag was flown over the Imperial Hotel. The starry plough highlights the coming together of different factions of Irish politics, as the Irish Citizen Army joined the Irish Volunteers on Easter week 1916. It is a symbol of socialism, republicanism and of course, reminds us of our proclamation signatory and executed leader of 1916, James Connolly.
